Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026 • Effective Date: October 31, 2026
1. Introduction
StudyGen (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is an educational software suite designed for UK primary and secondary teachers and students (Years 1–13). We are dedicated to protecting the privacy of educators and young learners in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Age Appropriate Design Code.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to deliver educational learning and presentation tools:
- Account Information: Name, school email address, and role (teacher or student) when registering an account.
- Educational Content: Presentation topics, generated slides, practice questions, quizzes, and class assignments created within the application.
- Authentication & Session Data: Secure browser tokens used to maintain your logged-in state.
3. Google API Services & Google Drive User Data
StudyGen offers an optional feature allowing users to export generated educational materials directly to their personal or school Google Drive account.
Permissions Requested: We request only the narrowest scope necessary: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This scope permits StudyGen only to create and edit files that StudyGen itself creates. StudyGen cannot see, read, alter, or delete any of your other existing Google Drive files.
How Google Data is Used: When you connect Google Drive, the OAuth access token is stored strictly in your local device browser (localStorage). It is used exclusively to create a “StudyGen” folder and upload presentations or worksheets you request to save.
No Server Storage or Sharing: Your Google tokens and Google Drive contents are never sent to or stored on StudyGen database servers. We never sell, rent, or share Google user data with any third parties or advertisers.
No AI Model Training: Google user data and files retrieved through Google APIs are never used to train, develop, or improve artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
StudyGen’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Cloud Storage & Backups (Microsoft OneDrive)
Similarly to Google Drive, users may optionally connect Microsoft OneDrive to back up classroom materials. StudyGen requests only delegated file write access, stores tokens locally in browser storage, and does not retain or inspect other files in your Microsoft account.
5. AI Model Processing
StudyGen uses AI models solely to generate curriculum-aligned teaching materials and interactive quizzes. Educational prompts do not include pupil personally identifiable information (PII). AI processing is ephemeral and prompts are processed under enterprise data protection provisions.
6. Data Retention & Revoking Access
You can disconnect Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive at any time from your Settings page. Disconnecting clears all tokens from your browser immediately. You can also revoke access at any time via your Google Account Security Settings.
