StudyGen User Manual
Getting started
- Sign in with Google or email and choose Teacher or Student. Your account type is fixed the first time you sign in.
- Teachers get the Generator, Exams, Classes and Teacher mode. Students get My work.
Generating a lesson
- Pick the year group (Year 1–13), subject, topic, presentation vibe and difficulty (Foundation to Oxbridge).
- Choose a full pack or just a worksheet, mock test or assessment. SlideGen focuses on KS3, GCSE AQA/Edexcel/OCR and A-level, and also supports KS1 and KS2.
- Slides include worked examples, answers you can reveal, teacher notes, real pictures from Wikimedia and line graphs for science.
Editing slides
- Open the Edit tab. Active mode lets you type straight onto the slide and change bold, italic, underline, double underline, highlight, colours, text size and picture size.
- Passive mode shows a tidy form for the title, bullets and notes.
- Press ✨ next to any item to rewrite just that part with AI, with Undo. The Picture box swaps, searches or removes pictures and graphs.
School themes & Layer Studio
- In Settings, upload your school PowerPoint or a screenshot. SlideGen copies colours, fonts, shapes, pictures and layout.
- Layer Studio lets you tick which shapes and pictures to keep. 'Auto-pick with AI' chooses the reusable parts for you.
Exporting & presenting
- Export as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) or download the test as a PDF.
- Present opens a clean projector window showing only the slide, while your laptop keeps notes, the next slide and live tips. Arrow keys or a clicker move both.
Exams, tests & worksheets
- The Exams page builds full papers with mark schemes and calculation grids. Use 'Exam preparing for' to match a board, 11+, Oxbridge tests or UKMT.
- Mock tests mark multiple-choice answers automatically. Worksheets have a mark scheme toggle.
Classes & results
- Create a class to get a join code, then share it with pupils. Store folders and files per class.
- The results graph shows mock tests in red, worksheets in green and assessments in blue for each pupil.
- Set work through the Backpack with due dates.
Marking
- Pupils can upload up to six photos of handwritten work. The marking desk shows the photos, answers and mark scheme.
- AI marking reads handwriting and drafts marks and feedback; teachers can change anything before returning it.
Teacher mode
- The microphone transcribes the lesson in your browser and suggests misconceptions and explanations.
- The fair pupil picker chooses pupils who haven't spoken yet.
For students
- Press 'Join class with code' on My work, see set work and due dates, revise with mock tests and worksheets, and open 'See feedback' to review marks.
Settings & account
- Set default year, subject, vibe and difficulty, dark mode and large text.
- Optionally add your own Gemini keys and save them to your account.
- Delete your account in the Danger Zone by typing DELETE.
